Dr Victoria Brown received her MEng in Materials Science with Nuclear Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 2016. During her degree, she also spent time on placement with EDF energy assisting with reactor material monitoring
Past Research Focus
Dr Brown's PhD ran in collaboration with the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, CCFE and focused on the use of small punch testing as a way of analysing new structural materials for nuclear fusion reactors. Due to the limited amount of material available for testing, small-scale testing forms a vital part of the development of the next generation of nuclear reactors.
Dr Brown worked mainly with the finite element software Abaqus along with the coding language Python to small punch testing simulations to better understand the complex deformation involved.
