STAR group lead Prof. Martin Jackson was invited to give a keynote talk at the 2nd Conference on FAST/SPS: From Research to Industry in Warsaw, Poland. The talk was titled 'Exploitation of FAST/SPS to Recycle Surplus Metal Powder for Sustainable Solutions and Near-Net Shape Components' and provided a summary of the various FAST/SPS projects completed by the STAR group over recent years.

Unfortunately due to other commitments, Prof. Jackson was unable to present and Dr. Sam Lister delivered the talk on his behalf. The conference was a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues from the FAST/SPS expert group and across Europe. Interesting keynote presentations were given by leading  FAST/SPS academics including keynotes from: Prof. Olivier Guillon, Dr. Claude Estournes and Prof. José Manuel Torralba. FAST machine manufacturers also gave interesting talks on the current state and future direction of the industry, before the technical presentations from a wide range of researchers were delivered. Overall the conference was a very enjoyable trip and many interesting discussions were had which hopefully will lead to some future collaborations!
